Zip Stands vs Pop Up Stands
Zip Stands and Pop Up Stands are both suitable backdrop options. A Zip stand is great for not taking up a lot of space in your booth. This leaves plenty of room for other products or merchandise. They can also be printed double-sided so you can utilize the space you are in. Pop up stands can quickly create a professional looking display. They are heavier than Zip stands but the set up time is faster. Both stands have lighting options to take your display to the next level. Here are some examples of the different benefits between of zip and pop up stands.
Straight Zip Stand- Light Blocking Liner
Straight zip stands have the option of a light blocking liner. This liner is used between the two sheets of fabric to block out bright lighting situations, such as a photo shoot. They also come in handy when you have a double-sided print so you don’t have to worry about seeing one side through the other side. Straight zip stands are a great option to leave you with extra room if you are lacking in booth space. They have a quick set up time and the stretch fabric can be replaced quickly and easily.
Pop Up Stand- Convenience
Pop up stands have a quicker set up time, less than 5 minutes. Changing the print on a pop up stand is easy because they are attached with velcro. The best set up area for a pop up stand is somewhere without back-lighting. They also have a lot of moving parts so they can break if set up or taken down wrong. Pop up stands should never be forced during set up or take down. It can be as simple as checking the velcro on the framing or the plastic joints.
Curved Zip Stand VS Curved Pop Up Stand
Both curved stands work well when you are trying to showcase something specific in your booth, whether it is an object or even a person. It takes around 10 minutes for two people to set up the curved zip stand. Curved pop up stands take up more space (about 2 extra feet in depth) compared to the curved zip stand and straight pop up stand. However, they have a 5 minute set up time and can be easily set up by one person. Curved pop up stands are great for media backdrops as well.
Fabric Replacement and Swapping
Fabric can be replaced when creating new artwork on either stand without having to purchase a new frame; this also means you can swap out the fabric for a new print. Zip stands can be quickly replaced by unzipping the bottom of the fabric and slipping on new fabric similar to a pillowcase onto a pillow. It takes more time to replace or switch the fabric on the pop up stand because you have to line up the velcro versus unzipping and zipping with the zip stand. (See velcro replacement video)
You want to choose what backdrop will work best with your individual booth set up and environment, whether you want a 2 sided display stand or are looking for convenience of set up.
